Ask Dr. Tseday: February 4, 2009
Trisha from Tampa, FL asks: My 6-year-old daughter competed in beauty pageant few months ago. She didn’t place and has been crying ever since. Even though I tell her there are many others she can compete in, she keeps remembering that one. What can I say to make her feel better? I’ll take anything you have to offer. Thank you.
Dr. Tseday responds: Raise your daughter right. Never put her in another beauty pageant again. It’s no use to her and it teaches her all the wrong things. In the meantime, help her overcome her sadness by introducing and/or focusing on things that are of value, things that build character, decency, and kindness.
