Ask Dr. Tseday: January 11, 2009
CMK from Raleigh, NC asks: My husband and I are having difficulty with our marriage and for sure it’s affecting our boy. Do you think I should take him to therapy? Please help.
Dr. Tseday responds: No. I don’t think you should drag a five-year-old boy to therapy. If you want to help him, make your marriage work. You and his father are the best therapists for him, not some outsider. Besides, therapy would not make any difference if you take him right back to a home that is still in chaos. So, fix your relationship first.
